King Hamlet (Ghost)
King Hamlet is the father of Hamlet, the old husband of Gertrude, and the brother of Claudius.
King Hamlet died two months before the time in which the play begins and it is told that he was murdered by Claudius while he was sleeping in his garden. In Act 1, he narrates to Hamlet about what had happened to him and what he is going through in hell. After which, he gives Hamlet the task of killing Claudius, but he also gives specific orders not to get mad at Gertrude for what ever happened. In Act 3, Hamlet forgets what the spirit of his father had told him and he starts to point out all the mistakes Gertrude had made. However, for the last time in the play the ghost reappears and is shown to be angry at Hamlet for not obeying his orders and tells him to forgive his mother. |
